Every month we study the universe of funds in the investment marketplace to assess whether they meet our exacting standards and should be given the RSMR seal of approval.
Here is the new recruit from our October review:
PIMCO are one of the world’s leading fixed income managers, overseeing assets totalling $1.8 trillion. The fund comprises a diversified portfolio of their foremost strategies and features an unconstrained and flexible investment mandate, enabling the managers to invest in almost any fixed income asset class.
The management of the group's funds follows a centrally developed investment strategy, which is initiated through quarterly investment forums. These forums are instrumental in crafting strategies that align with the economic perspectives of the Global Advisory Board, comprised of retired members from central bank committees, prominent academics, and former politicians. The collected experience within this group of economic and financial policy makers is unparalleled and forms the foundation upon which the investment strategy is built.
External speakers and investment professionals from within PIMCO are invited to participate in the forums and contribute to the discussions leading to the formulation of the strategy. Stock selection benefits from the input of large, globally based teams of analysts conducting fundamental and quantitative reviews of the markets and risk experts working alongside to facilitate effective portfolio construction.
The team of three managing the fund are very experienced, have all been at PIMCO over 20 years and include the group’s chief investment officer. The portfolio is actively managed and asset allocation can vary significantly over time as the team implement both strategic and tactical approaches within the fund.
